CANTINA DI MONTALCINO
For over 40 years we have been producing Brunello di Montalcino, the most renowned wine in the world.
MONTALCINO SIENA, ITALY
Cantina di Montalcino, Founded in 1970
Cantina di Montalcino is the only winery cooperative in the Brunello area. Today it counts 94 members, small farms that treat about 160 hectares of vineyards (on average less than 2 hectares each) located between 120 and 650 meters above sea level. This group of small growers produce quality grapes totaling to about 75,000 bottles per year.
Montalcino, an ancient and fascinating Sienese village of Etruscan origin, is located on top of a hill about 600 meters above sea level. Bordered by Mount Amiata and the Orcia, Asso, and Ombrone valleys, it is almost circular in shape with four slopes, each with different microclimate characteristics. Vineyards occupy only a small part of the territory that is particularly suited for the cultivation of Sangiovese. Cantina di Montalcino vineyards are located in all of the four quadrants in which the territory of Montalcino is divided into. This is a guarantee of excellent quality even in periods when the climatic conditions have not been favorable.
In recent years, wines from Cantina di Montalcino have received numerous 90+ ratings from major critics like James Suckling, Wine Advocate, Luca Maroni, International Wine report, and more.
