Serre dei Roveri

Barolo DOCG

Wine Type: Red Wine

Country: Italy

Region: Piemonte

Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo

Winemaking: Crushing and destemming; fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 28-30 degrees Celsius; maceration on the skins for 12 days, with daily pumping of the must over the cap. Aged for 18 months in large casks made of Slavonian oak.

Tasting Notes: Spices and dried flowers on the nose; smooth and mouth-filling, with sweet tannins. Great structure. Pair with braised veal, stewed meat, grilled fillet and meat, mature cheeses.

James Suckling: “Lots of cherry and dry, earthy spice character on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with grainy tannins and a slightly bitter, woody finish, making the fruit struggle a little for now. Try from 2024.”

International Wine Report: “The 2018 Barolo offers pretty aromas of dark cherries and strawberries that are woven together with spices, floral and licorice notes all emerging from the glass. On the palate this is silky and polished with an expressive finish, marked by red fruits and spices. This is already accessible and should continue to impress over the next decade and beyond.”
