Wine Advocate: “The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Chateau La Grande Gardiole Vielles Vignes is an unusual blend of 65% Syrah, 25% Grencache, and 10% Cinsault, but it still tastes like Chateauneuf, offering hints of roses, tea and anise on the nose, then ripe black cherries on the full-bodied palate. It’s bright and fresh on the silky finish, where more red fruits come into play.”

Wine Enthusiast: Flavors of ripe black cherry and strawberry preserves are offset by savory tones of bramble, white mushroom, and pepper in this juicy but nuanced wine. It’s full bodied and voluptuous but briskly balanced, ending on fine, chalky tannins. It drinks well now and should improve till 2026 and hold further.”
