40-Year-Old Tawny Port

Wine Type: Port Wine

Country: Portugal

Region: Porto

Grapes: Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and old traditional grape varieties.

Tasting Notes: This 40 Year-old Aged Tawny is a remarkable blend that captivates the tasting through its powerful and complex nuttiness aromas in harmony with spicy notes, warm roasted coffee, chocolate and cinnamon hints from the long contact with oak wood during the aging process. On the palate, the intense fruity flavors, velvety smoothness and firm tannins reveal an elegant and persistent finish.

Food Pairings: An aged Tawny Port is ideal to finish any meal as well as pairing with crème Brulee, Almond pie and toasts with orange jam.

Robert Parker: “The NV 40 Year Old Tawny Port Palmer is a traditional blend, with 117 grams per liter of residual sugar. It is rather stunning. Relatively dry and serious, it has fine grip on the finish, precision and focus. If it seems a bit on the leaner side, that doesn’t mean it lacks concentration. It just isn’t jammy. The aromatics and flavors are very concentrated, while this maintains its elegance. The complex flavor medley led by the molasses nuances is intriguing. This is beautiful, easy to drink, yet intense where you want it to be.”
