Bocale
Montefalco Rosso DOC
Wine Type: Red Wine
Country: Italy
Region: Umbria
Grapes: 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino, 10% Merlot and 5% Colorino
Tasting Notes: Ruby red in color with violet hues. Floral scents, reminiscent of violets accompanied by fruity notes of ripe cherry and lightly spicy notes. Well structured wine, balanced with soft tannins and good persistence.
Food Pairings: Goes well with pasta dishes, red meat and poultry, cold cuts and cheeses.
James Suckling: “There’s a lot of savory oak already on the nose, pushing the cranberry-like fruit into the background. However, on the medium-to full-bodied palate it’s the fruit that leads the way and, in the end, there’s decent harmony between juicy black fruit, lightly charred oak and firm tannin, which will improve with a little more time in bottle. Best after 2022.”
